Ken Stars, the average office worker. But in the evening hours, he becomes many things: Under the name "Adishesha", he becomes Malsim in the Fighting Street franchise and Jacquel Brent in the Virtua Brawler franchise. Under the name "Jormungandr", he dominated local Skullgals and Splash Brothers tournaments. Ken Stars, a skillful and eager fighting game player dreaming of becoming a professional and making big bucks while chasing after the world titles. His dream will never be fulfilled, for he was good, great even, but just shy of being exceptional. He never got scouted, and his tendency to smacktalk people online gave him a bad reputation in various online forums dedicated to his beloved fighting games. A bad rep without much flavor and style, even as a villain he wasn't suitable for the top 1% of the fighting game community. After he got banned from a forum as a result of his badmouthing having gone especially rough, Ken put down his controller and began some soul-searching. He can be an ass, but he also doesn't want to add the hole to that. His eagerness has become bitterness as he attempted to force his dream upon others. Ken needed an outlet. And after a few days of thinking and reducing his overall time spent in fighting games, he came to a conclusion: He is unable to put down his competitive streak, he cannot pretend to be a guy who can play cooperative games all the time and be happy about that. He must know his place in the world, where exactly he stands, and who is better than him and who is not. Obviously, fighting games were not a long-term solution, after all, he know he needed to get his attitude under control. Yet, he yearns for competition. He found his solution: Entering the world of MMO PvPs. Building up a new identity as "Mushussu", Ken spent the remaining year on a popular MMO at the time, ultimatively becoming the leader of the guild "CruXadder" and placing in the top 10 of PvP-centric guilds. To stay competitive, he embraced becoming a leader for the guild, for teams and for raids, learning how to combine his competitiveness with the need to coordinate and be trusted. The inner circle of the guild became good friends outside the game and when he opened up about his alternative names, two recognized them and ultimatively became close friends. One even lived in the same city as his, leading to an offline friendship filled with joy and countless hours of playing various fighting games together. When Rebel Impulse arrived and became the smash hit of the year almost instantly, Ken instinctively knew that this game will be the ultimate competition for him. New challengers, new people to find for a guild, new online acquaintances to share stories with. It would be his personal test to become part of the top 1% PvP players in that new kind of MMO, and once he has achieved it, he promised to himself that he will chase after his old dream once more, for real this time. While he stayed in the old guild and sometimes goes online there for old times' sake, he informed his guild members about him joining the Rebel Impulse hype and transferred leader- and ownership to his offline friend. Using the old guild's name as his player name because all the good snake mythology names were already taken, Ken enters a new battlefield, one unlike all the others.
